The company Hayoz A. Holzbau AG in Kleingurmels is a prime example of a medium-sized timber construction company. In 1948, Alois Hayoz took over his father's company, which at that time was still located in the old cheese dairy in Gurmels.

In 1950, carpentry work could already be started and the first employees were hired. In 1957, a sawmill and a carpentry shop were added to the business. The move to the new premises in Kleingurmels on an area of 25,000 m2 took place in 1966.

Since 1977, the company has been a family business, now in its third generation, and currently employs 32 people.

Building with wood

The element construction method allows, after appropriate preparation, the millimeter-precise assembly on the substructure within a few days.

The time saving brings a short construction period of just 4-5 months, which has a positive effect on the construction interest.

Slope stairs

The various straight or winding stringer staircases are characterized by their simple design. The stringers delimit the staircase on both sides. The banister is fixed directly on the stringers. The free space between the stringer and the handrail can be filled with various materials (glass, chrome steel, steel cables, wood) and manufactured in different variations.

Folding stairs

The folding staircase is characterized by a very modern and imposing design. This is achieved by a seemingly seamless connection between the tread and riser. It seems as if this staircase is folded directly from the wood, hence the name folding staircase.

Timber stairs

Instead of stringers, stringers support this staircase. The treads are placed on the stiles and give this type of staircase its characteristic appearance. The banister is attached directly to the treads and can be designed variably.

Spreading stairs

In this type of staircase, the treads are suspended from the handrail by means of stakes. This gives it a floating appearance. The cantilever staircase does not require side stringers. The handrail takes over the load-bearing function and must be dimensioned accordingly. The treads are thus fully displayed and they can be manufactured in any sinuous or straight shape.
